Disability income protection is a product that is often lacking in a client’s protection portfolio, and that is a mistake on the agent and client’s part. DI can do so much more than protect the client’s ability to provide his/her family with income, it can also protect his/her business from overhead during disability, provide replacement costs for key persons, and ensure a smooth transition to new ownership after a debilitating injury or illness.
We believe that many agents overestimate their client’s understanding of the disability insurance need. Many clients are under the impression that their group coverage is enough, or that a triggering event will never happen to them. But nearly 3 in 10 Americans will be disabled in excess of 90 days during their working career.
